We provide independent Medeco locksmith service across Rohnert Park, and here’s the thing that makes our Medeco work different in this town: the city’s builder-identical tract-home door prep means a Maxum deadbolt retrofit usually drops into the original bore with zero drilling, but the same uniformity means one wrong spacer choice repeats across an entire cul-de-sac during August move-in. So we stock the exact spacer patterns and OEM pin kits the A, B, C, and H sections need, and we re-pin Medeco cylinders on-site rather than pushing replacements. Call (833) 589-8078 when a restricted key is giving you trouble.
Why Rohnert Park Residents Choose Us for Medeco Service
Most locksmiths in Sonoma County can cut a Kwikset key. Far fewer genuinely understand what happens inside a Medeco Biaxial pin stack after five years of student-rental turnover on a damp Rohnert Park winter. Our crew works on Medeco locks constantly without being tied to the factory, and we bring that same expertise to Petaluma Medeco service. We buy the same restricted key blanks and pin kits through legitimate distribution and re-pin Medeco cylinders on-site rather than pushing replacements. We know the difference between a genuine Medeco biaxial pin stack and a cheap knockoff because we’ve corrected both in this town.
Roland Vásquez, our owner, learned the mechanical fundamentals at City College of San Francisco and has spent three decades working locks across the Bay Area. That background matters when a Medeco key won’t turn past the first pin and the easy answer would be “replace the cylinder.” The honest answer is often a clean, a re-pin, and a fresh restricted key set. We also run Medeco sales & service across the full model line, so you’re not stuck with a one-brand guesser.
And because we serve Rohnert Park service area with emergency response built into the model, a stiff Maxum on move-in day doesn’t have to become a tenant crisis.

Common Medeco Locksmith Problems We Solve in Rohnert Park
- Restricted keyway wear from rental turnover. The angled key cuts on Biaxial and Maxum keys dull and round over with years of student-rental turnover, causing hard insertion and the classic “key won’t turn past first pin” symptom. We re-pin the cylinder to a fresh restricted key set and the lock returns to factory feel.
- Winter moisture seizing slider pins. Rohnert Park sits in the fog-influenced North Bay inland valley, and the cool damp months send condensation into exterior Maxum cylinders that were never re-lubed. The hardened slider pins gum up, and the bolt binds even with a clean key. We pull the cylinder, clean it, and re-pin it honestly.
- Strike and door-shift misalignment. Slab-foundation tract homes settle over decades, and that shifts door frames just enough to stress the hardened bolt and round the keyway shoulders. It’s often misdiagnosed as a bad cylinder. We reset the strike so the bolt throws clean before touching the cylinder.
- Lost or unreturned restricted keys. Medeco’s patent key control means a departed Sonoma State tenant who kept a key can’t be solved with a hardware-store duplicate. Owners face a genuine re-key or cylinder-swap decision. We walk through both options and the cost before touching a screw.
- Builder-grade hardware that can’t keep up. The original 1970s entry locksets on Rohnert Park’s tract homes were never designed for Medeco-level security. We install Maxum deadbolts and 11TR/11WC handlesets straight into the original bore in most A, B, C, and H section homes.
Medeco Service in Rohnert Park: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Rohnert Park is a master-planned 1960s-70s suburb built around the Sonoma State University campus, and that shapes Medeco work here more than most people realize. The housing stock is dominated by single-story stucco-and-wood tract homes on slab foundations in subdivisions like the A, B, C, and H sections. That means door prep is nearly identical from house to house. When we retrofit a Medeco Maxum deadbolt into a C-section rental off Country Club Drive, the bore usually matches the template perfectly. No drilling. No filler plate. The same is true three doors down. That uniformity is also why we carry spacer patterns specific to these 1970s builder specs, because a gappy strike on one unit means the same gap on every unit the same crew framed. The damp winter months then compound things: exterior cylinders that never got re-lubed seize up predictably every January. A lock is only as strong as the decision behind it, and in Rohnert Park, the decision to re-pin before winter is cheaper than a February emergency call.
Medeco Models & Products We Service in Rohnert Park
We service the full Medeco line that shows up in Rohnert Park: the Medeco Maxum deadbolt, the Medeco Original (Biaxial) deadbolt, Maxum 11TR/11WC residential handlesets, and Medeco Commercial mortise and rim cylinders. For any cylinder we service, we use genuine Medeco OEM pin kits, springs, and restricted key blanks. Aftermarket pins throw off the factory tolerances that make Medeco worth owning. We stock the common Maxum and Biaxial parts locally so turnaround stays fast, and we only recommend replacement when the hardened pin stack or keyway is physically damaged. If the cylinder is dirty or misaligned, we clean and re-pin it and tell you that’s all it needed.
Medeco Service Pricing in Rohnert Park
Medeco work in Rohnert Park runs on honest line-item pricing, not a teaser rate that doubles when the tech arrives. A cylinder re-pin with a fresh restricted key set typically runs $85-$185 per cylinder depending on pin count and keyway condition. A full Maxum deadbolt retrofit including hardware, installation, and new restricted keys falls in the $190-$340 range per door, again depending on whether any frame or strike work is needed. OEM restricted key blanks cost more than generic keys by design. You’ll receive a full price on the phone before anyone is dispatched, and that price is the invoice. Call (833) 589-8078 for an exact quote, estimates are free.

FAQs – Medeco Locksmith in Rohnert Park
We can, but not without the original owner and proof of the key control paperwork. Medeco’s patent key control means restricted blanks aren’t sold at hardware stores in Rohnert Park or anywhere else. When a tenant keeps a key, the real answer is usually a re-pin to a fresh restricted key set, which resets the keyway so the old key no longer works. Call (833) 589-8078 and we’ll walk through the re-pin cost before scheduling.
In nearly every A, B, C, and H section home we’ve serviced, yes. The original 1970s deadbolt bore on Rohnert Park’s slab-foundation tract homes matches the Maxum template closely enough that no drilling is needed. The only variance is the strike alignment after decades of settling, which we correct by resetting the strike rather than boring new holes.
Winter moisture in Rohnert Park’s fog-influenced valley gets into un-lubed exterior cylinders and gums up the hardened slider pins inside the Maxum or Biaxial stack. It’s a lubrication and cleaning issue, not a key problem. We re-lube and re-pin when needed, and the lock returns to factory smoothness—just as we do with our Medeco service in Penngrove.
Re-pin if the cylinder is clean and the pin stack isn’t physically damaged. Swap if the keyway shows visible wear from years of daily student use. In Rohnert Park, most C-section and H-section rentals we see every August are good re-pin candidates for three or four turnover cycles before the keyway itself needs replacing.
No. We’re an independent Medeco service provider. We buy the same restricted key blanks and OEM pin kits through legitimate distribution channels, and we re-pin Medeco cylinders on-site rather than pushing replacements. Independence means we tell you when a clean and re-pin beats a $300 cylinder swap, and we stand by that advice for customers seeking Medeco in Kenwood too.
